Anita Angela Farmer
Anita Angela Farmer, the daughter of William Sampson and Savannah Rasnick Goss, was born October 18, 1913 in Springfield, Missouri. She passed away on January 1, 2013 at The Montclair Retirement Community in Springfield at the age of 99.
Anita and Jack Willey Farmer were united in marriage on March 28, 1937 and lived all 66 years of their married life in Willard, Missouri. Anita and Jack had three beloved children. Anita worked for the Willard School District, initially as a second grade teacher and then as a high school English teacher. She was the first school librarian in Willard and retained a love of books and reading throughout her life. She was a faithful member of the Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother Mary Goss, brother AJ Goss and daughter Virginia (Ginny) and Ginny's husband John Ross.
Anita brought joy to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by those who survive her: two children, Mary Farmer of Chiriqui, Panama, and John and his wife Janet Farmer of Columbia, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Jeff (Kelly) and David (Ronda) Staley and Chris (Erin) and Michael (Erin) Farmer; 7 great-grandchildren, Meghan, Jordyn, Brandon, Nathan, Jackson, Matthew and Viola; John Ross's grandchildren Jackie (Gene) and Julie (Clayton) and their 7 children; one great-great grandchild, Alexis; brother-in-law Sam and wife Mary Lou Farmer; loving nieces and nephews and many other wonderful family members and friends.
A celebration of Anita's life will be held on Saturday January 5 at the Willard-Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, with visitation at 10 am and services at 11 am. Interment will follow in Wesley Cemetery, Willard. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilson Brim Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove.
